Manufacturing: Turner MedTech

Based on some of my experiences over the years, I realized that there is a strong need for a manufacturing partner to produce prototypes and finished products with a focus on customer service and quality. Turner MedTech was formed to fill that need

Turner MedTech is a contract manufacturing company created by Turner Innovations to service both related and independent companies in the X-ray imaging and medical device industry. The facility is ISO 13485 certified. Currently, Turner MedTech is contracted to do all the manufacturing for Turner Imaging Systems’Smart C and 3Dio’s Lumos 3DX. Turner MedTech has the capacity to meet the current demand for the Smart C, with the potential for onsite expansion in the future. When 3Dio reaches full commercial scale, the company plans to expand at a new facility.

Our facility is around 20,000 square feet. We are currently growing our customer base so we can spread the overhead of the manufacturing operation over a larger number of units and improve the cost of goods for the customers.

The team at Turner MedTech have developed manufacturing capabilities and processes to provide a full range of products to make the commercialization process successfull. Whether a firm needs individual prototypes manufactured from 3D printers or CNC machining, or volume production of injection-molded components to fully-assembled electromechanical devices, Turner MedTech is a is an experienced partner at the forefront of the imaging industry.

Research and development

Keeping an eye on emerging technologies allows us to integrate the latest technology and best practices into manufacturing cutting edge products. Quality products and dependability are key to a long term return on investment. Turner Innovations utilizes advanced laboratory facilities that feature the best electronic technology and x-ray applications. Using our state-of-the-art equipment, any concept can be turned into a profitable reality.

We carry out applied research and development for government and private customers, including small business innovative research (SBIR/STTR) projects for federal agencies. This research is usually performed with university research collaborators. We will partner with you to:

• Analyze and create intellectual property
• Develop and implement technology strategy
• Design and develop engineering prototypes and released products
• Commercialize products through established partnerships or affiliated Turner companies

Rapid prototyping

Our latest investment in 3D print technology insures rapid delivery from concept to physical prototyping. Speed-to-market is paramount in the technology sector and having the right people combined with state-of-the-art equipment sets Turner Innovations apart from the rest. The faster a prototype is created, the quicker designers and engineers can analyze it for design flaws and make necessary adjustments. A 60-90 percent reduction in prototype creation has a direct impact on how quickly companies can release their products to market.

Pilot manufacturing

Pilot manufacturing is a mock-up manufacturing process that identifies pros and cons before transitioning to full-scale production. By performing early-stage pilot manufacturing we evaluate best methods for maximizing ROI. Our pilot manufacturing process includes:

• Product design
• Plastic part design
• Material selection
• Design transfer to manufacturing
• Prototyping

In addition, we offer DHF, DMR, and DHR validation and verification (assembly, testing, tooling and fixtures, equipment validations, experiments, packaging, sterilization, accelerated age studies and transit testing).
